Cultivation and Production: India is a leading producer and exporter of Bay leaf in the world, and Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, and Uttar Pradesh are some of the states that produce bay leaf. 

In India, it is mainly harvested in November to February and this activity is done once in every 2 years.

Usage :

  • Bay leaf is a standard cooking ingredient in many savory dishes. It is also used to flavor soups, stews, and sauces - just remove them before serving because they have a bitter taste.
  • Bay leaf is also known for its age-old medicinal properties. Earlier research shows that taking ground bay leaf twice daily along with medication for diabetes can lower pre-meal blood sugar levels.
